Few Facts on ®
Is HEWOOD© Versatile?
Yes, of course! Versatile is one of its greatest assets. HEWOOD® can be manufactured to suit your requirements of lengths up to 20ft. HEWOOD® is also available in every conceivable color, with plain or wood grain finish. It handles like wood... you can cut, nail, screw, drill, and turn HEWOOD® with standard wood working tools.

How about maintenance?
HEWOOD® is absolutely and totally maintenance free. Since it does not absorb moisture (the basis for fungus and wood rot in natural wood), it is waterproof. Painting is not required and staining does not occur.
The product is made in such a way that it will never splinter, rot, warp, crack, decay, split, cup or be attacked by insects.

Does it really last a lifetime?
Chemical engineers estimate that it will last 400 years with minimal degradation and deterioration!

Does it break, melt or burn?
Under normal conditions and use, cold and hot temperatures will not affect HEWOOD® . No product distortions will occur within usual ambient temperatures. Although, it has a higher ignition point than wood and is self-extinguishing when the flame is removed, HEWOOD® will burn only when exposed to a combustion source for a sustained period.

Is HEWOOD® environmentally friendly?
It is! It is made of waste material that would normally wind up in landfills. HEWOOD® is non porous and contains none of the chemical hazards associated with pressure treated and chemically impregnated wood. Therefore, it cannot leak and contaminate the soil. Manufacturing methodology is a clean extrusion process. HEWOOD® helps to save trees and rain forests.

Will nails and screw pullout like they do in wood?
HEWOOD® holds nails and screws 100% better than wood. Regular wood working tools are all that is required.

What joinery method is used?
For paneling and ceiling, the hidden nail system is used so that no nail marks can be seen on the finished surface. Mouldings and other products can be pasted, screwed, nailed, riveted, etc.

How does it compare in price to wood?
Well, it really depends on the type of wood you are talking about. However, any kind of wood will require on going, annual treating to prevent wood rot, sealing, painting/polishing. Moreover, any wood will splinter and split eventually.

Once you install HEWOOD® none of these procedures need to be adopted and there is absolutely no maintenance costs. In the long run Hewood costs less. Installation costs may be similar or less.
